Remodeling

If you’re about to embark on a kitchen or bath remodel, you’ve come to the right place. We offer materials, design help, and the kind of customer service you can only get from a small mom-and-pop neighborhood store. No project is too big or too small. In fact, we love helping homeowners who are just sprucing up a few things on their own and need a little guidance. If you need more than in-store help, we offer design services so we can advise in your home and spend a few hours coming up with specific solutions, or we can design the full project and help you find contractors to execute the plan.

Brands We Carry

We offer a wide range of eco-friendly countertops for kitchens and baths, plus recycled glass and recycled content ceramic tiles for floors and walls.

Vetrazzo countertops are made in the Bay Area using post-consumer/industrial recycled glass and concrete. This unique countertop is incredibly durable, scratch resistant, heat resistant up to 600 degrees, and perfect for indoor or outdoor use. It only needs to be resealed about once a year, which you can easily do yourself. Each slab has it’s own story; whether the glass is from red traffic lights or from your curbside recycling, Vetrazzo is always a conversation starter.

Icestone countertops are made in Brooklyn using pre- and post-consumer/ industrial recycled glass and concrete. They are the first countertop to receive Cradle-to-Cradle certification. Icestone is beautiful and easy to live with because it’s durable, scratch resistant, and heat resistant up to 600 degrees. It only needs to be resealed about once a year, which you can easily do yourself. Icestone countertops have small, refined bits of recycled glass, shells leftover from seafood distributors, and mirrors.

Squak Mountain Stone is a fiber-cement material comprised of recycled paper, recycled glass, fly ash (a byproduct of the coal industry that usually ends up in landfills), and cement. Made in Washington, this material is hand-cast into “slabs” as an alternative to natural stone or poured-in-place concrete. Perfect for homes with a rustic esthetic. Concrete is porous, so these will need to be resealed regularly.

PaperStone countertops are made in Washington from post-consumer waste, recycled paper and petroleum-free, phenolic resins made from raw materials like cashew nut shell liquid. Available in several thicknesses and six standard colors, this material is durable enough for use as countertops for indoor and outdoor kitchens, as well as for tabletops, windowsills, rain screens, cutting boards, and even skateboard ramps. It resembles a solid surface product with a faint wood grain appearance, and should be treated with PaperStone sealant to preserve the surface integrity. PaperStone is stain resistant, impervious to water, and unlike stone countertops, is warm to the touch.

EcoTop is a new, innovative material made of a 50/50 blend of FSC certified post consumer recycled paper and rapidly renewable bamboo fiber bound with a 100% water-based adhesive. This solid surface counter comes in a range of light to dark colors and is naturally stain and abrasion resistant. A water-based, vegetable oil/carnauba wax finish provides protection and adds luster and depth to the surface.

Windfall Lumber countertops are handmade in Washington using reclaimed or certified wood. Tight grained and beautifully constructed of Madrone, Douglas Fir, Maple, Myrtle, Walnut, and Alder, these countertops are available in side and end grain configurations.

Sandhill Industries tile is made in Idaho of 100% recycled glass that is otherwise destined for landfills. Using an innovative glass-fusing technology, Sandhill tile takes less than one-half of the energy to produce than ceramic tile, and less than one-fourth of the energy it takes to produce a cast-glass tile. You have limitless options with the 36 available colors, matte or glossy finish, and a full range of sizes. Custom mosaic blends and border designs will add a personalized touch to any project.

Fireclay Tile is a handcrafted, sustainable, ceramic tile made in San Jose, CA for the last 24 years using locally sourced materials. Debris Series tiles contain over 50% recycled content and are available in 112 natural, lead-free, and VOC-free glazes. Choose from 4 different finishes, countless sizes, and matching decorative tiles and trims.

Mod Walls Tile offers 5 eco-friendly tile and surface materials: + Viridian 1” tile is made of 98% pre-consumer recycled glass reclaimed from old building windows and waste from window and windshield production. Viridian Pearl features a subtle iridescent sheen in 9 colors. It is an ideal finish for walls and low traffic floors, both indoors and out, including wet areas. Viridian Industrial features a non-slip, textured, matte finish that’s suitable for high traffic areas and is available in 8 colors. + ModRocks 100% post-consumer recycled glass mosaics are made from tumbled bits of glass which uses little energy as no melting is involved. The clear glass emphasizes your grout color and sparkles in the light. This mosaic is ideal for wet and dry areas both indoor and outdoor including floors, pools and spas. + Cork Mosaic Tile is made from waste generated by cork stopper manufacturing. This 1” Penny Round style is perfect for walls, floors, and ceilings. So easy to install and seal for a waterproof and insulating flooring or wall covering. + ModRocks natural pebble mosaics are available in 17 unique designs and 3 sizes. This mosaic looks amazing as flooring and walls for kitchens and showers as well as pools, spas, outdoor walkways, and even fireplace surrounds.

Freibel Tile is a locally produced composite tile made of concrete and post-industrial recycled glass, quartz, and mother-of-pearl. This durable product is low maintenance and resists scratches and stains. Available in large format sizes, these colorful tiles are great for flooring.

Countertop Orders

Bring us a drawing – professional or homemade – and we will get you a no-cost, no-obligation quote from our preferred countertop installer. The quote will be customized to your specific project. There’s no general cost per square foot numbers thrown around here that will suddenly balloon once you start the project. We’ll give you an accurate number for materials and installation so you can make an informed decision. When you’re ready to place the order, we handle all the details for you, keeping you informed of material lead times and setting up appointments for templating and installation. At Reclaim, you’re not sold a countertop and never hear from us again; we stay in touch every step of the way.

Custom Cabinets

Eco-friendly cabinets are made locally of FSC-certified wood, reclaimed wood, or bamboo. To keep your indoor air quality healthy, we use only no added formaldehyde plywood cabinet boxes and finish with 0-VOC paint or low-VOC stain and sealant. We work with established, full-service, local custom cabinet shops. To get started, bring us a drawing of the space and pictures of the style of cabinetry you want. We will help you work out the details and provide you with a no-cost, no-obligation quote to consider. When you order cabinets and countertops through Reclaim, we will coordinate the details so that nothing is overlooked and everything comes together beautifully.

What is FSC-certified?
FSC stands for Forest Stewardship Council, an international not-for-profit organization that promotes responsible management of the world's forests. They not only make sure that the wood harvesting is legal, but that the rights of workers and indigenous communities are respected, endangered wildlife habitats are not negatively affected, and that the manufacturing and distribution of the wood is done correctly. Basically, they worry about all of that so that you can have peace of mind when you buy raw lumber, wood floors, trim, cabinets, or furniture. Go to www.fscus.org for more information.
What’s a VOC?
VOC stands for volatile organic compound. The American Lung Association states that VOCs can cause eye and skin irritation, lung and breathing problems, headaches, nausea, muscle weakness, and liver and kidney damage. When you buy or use a product that emits VOCs indoors, you are contributing to poor indoor air quality. Because so many materials and substances in our homes emit VOCs (such as plywood or particleboard furniture, vinyl shower curtains, some resilient flooring and carpet, mattresses and upholstery treated with fire retardants, etc.), the air quality inside your home can be 10 times worse than it is outside. And that number can get up to 1,000 times worse right after you apply a high-VOC product like oil-based paint. The VOCs released inside your home eventually migrate outdoors where they mix with other substances in the air and turn into ozone, which is a component of smog. This is why using low-VOC or no-VOC products and keeping materials that emit VOCs out of your home is good for your family’s health and the environment.
